"Grandpa & Foal" Print

Some of my sweetest memories of childhood took place at my grandpa’s farm. They were full of tadpole catching, waterlily pulling, and rope swinging. My favorite time of year was when we got to see the foals. Grandpa would sit or lay on the ground with the foal until they were comfortable with him, sometimes inviting me to join them and feel the soft soles of the foals’ hooves. The foals brought out all the sweetness and tenderness in my tough grandpa, and made some of my favorite memories with him in my childhood.

This print is a reproduction of my original drawing which was based on a family photo of Grandpa and one of the foals at his farm. When I came across the photo, I was struck by the powerful composition. The placement and body language of each figure are a beautiful display of stillness, gentleness, curiosity, and trust.

An unframed print on archival 100% cotton paper. Each print includes an artist statement about the work to remember the stories that came with it. Some sizes offered are cropped slightly differently than the listing photo.

This piece will arrive in a hard cardboard mailer inside a protective plastic sleeve to ensure its safe arrival.
